Each field in every location profile is configured with one of three governance states: Unlocked (franchisee can edit freely), Approval Required (franchisee proposes, brand admin approves), or Hard Locked (brand-only field). What governance controls
Brand integrity is a data problem. Governance is the infrastructure that prevents bad data from ever reaching a channel. Not a policy document that franchisees ignore.
Three lock states per field
Every data field has one of three governance states. Unlocked: franchisee edits freely. Approval Required: franchisee proposes, brand admin approves. Hard Locked: only brand admins can change it, period.
Email-based one-click approvals
When a franchisee submits a change for an approval-required field, brand admins get an email showing exactly what changed: current value vs. proposed value. Approve or reject with one click. No login required.
Pending change diffs
Every pending change shows a side-by-side diff: current published value on the left, proposed value on the right. Approvers see exactly what will change before they act. No ambiguity in the approval queue.
Full audit trail
Every change, approval, and rejection is logged with a timestamp, the user who took the action, and the exact values before and after. The audit trail is immutable and exportable for compliance, franchise disputes, or internal review.

Brand admins set the governance state for each data field across the network. Lock what matters (brand name, primary phone, address) and open what franchisees should own, like holiday hours or local social links.
Franchisees submit changes
When a franchisee edits an approval-required field, the change enters a pending state. It does not publish. The franchisee sees a confirmation that their change is awaiting approval. No guessing, no workarounds.
Brand admins approve via email
Brand admins receive an email showing the diff. One click to approve, one click to reject. No login required. Approved changes publish immediately. Rejections are logged with the reason. The franchisee is notified either way.
